Kate Middleton Meets Reese Witherspoon Before Visiting Skid Row on Final Day

Kate Middleton and husband Prince William wrapped up their first trip to the United States on Sunday, July 10. Before taking a flight back to London on the evening, the newlyweds spent their morning attending a private reception, where they got to chat with Reese Witherspoon, and visiting Inner City Arts Academy in Skid Row.

Kate and William kicked off their last day in L.A. with a private brunch for the launch of Tusk Trust's U.S. Patrons Circle. At the reception held at the mansion of businessman/film producer Steve Tisch, the pair mingled with supporters of the African wildlife charity, which include Reese, actress Catherine Keener and supermodel Linda Evangelista.

Steve, who hosted the reception said, "It was inspiring to not only have Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend the event, but also to hear how passionately they speak about their commitment to the cause." Meredith Ogilvie-Thompson, the Executive Director of Tusk USA, added, "We are really grateful to the Duke and Duchess for finding the time to meet some of Tusk's key American donors today."

Following the brunch, Kate and William made a visit to Inner-City Arts, the nonprofit cultural organization serving primarily disadvantaged and homeless youth, in downtown Los Angeles. Arriving at 11:40 A.M., they were greeted by six students holding a banner that read "Welcome to Inner-City Arts."

During the visit, the royal couple got a chance to attend an art class, where they painted alongside children and left their handprints in clay, and showed their playful side to the public. When William appeared to paint something abstract, Kate asked him, "William, do you know what you're doing? Start from the center."

After a few moments, the British prince asked his wife, who wore ivory white summer dress with pleated skirt under a crocheted navy-blue cardigan, "Catherine, what are you supposed to do?" Later on, he asked her what her picture was. To which, she replied, "It's either a tortoise or a snail. I'm not sure."

Afterward, the pair attended their final event, the ServiceNation: Mission Served "Hire Our Heroes" job fair at Sony Studios. During his speech, William said, "I am delighted, therefore, that our Foundation - and in that I include Harry, my low-flying Apache, very average brother - is a partner in today's event. We have much to learn from you."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge then headed to Los Angeles International Airport for their return flight to England. They boarded a British Airways commercial airliner, which took off about 3:55 P.M., and are due to arrive at Heathrow at 10 A.M. on Monday morning, July 11.
